About DietChat

Research context for
better health conversations.

DietChat is the conversational companion to DietNerd. It is part of the CustomNerd research family. It helps you explore diet and nutrition questions with article links, food data, saved conversations, follow-up context and optional documents. Research answers can be incomplete; check source details before using them for health decisions.

How it works

From a question to published evidence.

DietChat searches PubMed records and shows the research journey as it runs. Where an article is resolved, you can open its Article Analysis and original record. A retrieved paper is not proof that a particular claim is supported. The food-comparison lane uses FoodData Central records and links each food to its USDA source.

Features

Research, without losing the thread.

Small previews of the tools you can use in DietChat. These are illustrations, not live answers or medical advice.

01 / CONVERSATIONS

Pick up where you left off.

Saved chats can receive short AI topic titles after the answer; rename any conversation yourself. Search your own history, expand a chat to preview each question-answer pair, or delete a pair or whole conversation with a 30-second Undo. Temporary chat stays out of saved history.

02 / RESEARCH

See the work as it happens.

The journey moves as retrieval and analysis events arrive. Choose Light for standard research or Heavy for longer experimental research. Heavy is available but its answers are not yet source-verified and may withhold a target when support cannot be checked. Where a source is resolved, open Article Analysis or its original record. You can also view the research steps and optional claim-source notes; a citation alone does not verify its claim.

03 / YOUR CONTEXT

Add what matters to you.

Set an optional diet profile with goals, conditions, weight and dietary preferences in the notes. Attach a document or ask about a specific paper. Switch profile use on or off per conversation, and change or clear your profile later.

04 / COMPARE

See the numbers another way.

Where an answer contains a suitable numeric table, you can view it as a chart and return to the table. Ask for a five-food comparison of chicken breast, paneer, tofu, lentils and eggs. DietChat shows protein and fiber per 100 g in a table, with separate charts and links to each FoodData Central record. Values refer to the named preparations, not every variety of those foods.

06 / FOLLOW-UP

Talk it through naturally.

Ask follow-ups in the same thread with recent question context, not earlier answers treated as source evidence. On supported browsers, tap the microphone to dictate into the composer, see listening and transcript status, then edit the text before sending. If recognition is unavailable, type instead. Sending always takes a separate action.
